This year was the 200th anniversary of the battle of Trafalgar where the British Royal Navy defeated the combined fleets of the French Navy and the Spanish Navy. The battle was the most decisive British victory of the War of the Third Coalition of the Napoleonic Wars. Admiral Lord Nelson, with his much smaller
fleet of twenty-seven ships, sank twenty-two coalition ships without a single British vessel being lost. The centre panel shows the mortally wounded Nelson on the deck of his flagship HMS Victory; the left hand panel is of David and Goliath and the right hand panel is of the battle of Jericho.
